A 13 Year Old’s Call for Help in the Middle of the Night Sparked a Divide No One Expected

At thirteen, I sat on the linoleum between the stove and sink of our trailer, trying to keep my six-year-old brother, Noah, warm on a floor where our broken mattress had been replaced by folded towels.
