What a Designer Bag Showed Me About Wealth and Perspective

I lived with a girl in college who was Crazy Rich Asian–level rich. Whenever we went out, she carried a tiny mini-bag purse that looked elegant and chic, almost too small to hold anything. One weekend I asked if I could borrow it for a concert. She smiled and said, “Oh sure, no problem.”

I wore it that night and felt like a completely different person — confident, stylish, almost glamorous. It made me think maybe I could save up and buy one for myself someday. Later that week I looked it up online, and my jaw dropped when I saw the price.
